Happy Friday! βοΈ
What a week! I can't wait to drop some of the news we've been working on over the last two months. Raising money to get closer to launch is one of them! π€
Let's get into it. π
Tweet of the Day (TOD)! π¦
Lincoln Heights, Los Angeles

California is a trip. In some ways, it feels like the whole world in one. From the iconic beaches and piers of LA County, to the Bay Area, to the giants of Yosemite, and in to the Mt. Shasta region, it feels like an impossible amount of things in one place.
In 2019 we drove from 10 miles from the Mexican border to Vancouver.

Going by road is one of the few great ways to know a place. It's gas stations, it's diners, it's coffee houses, it's parks, it's Airbnb's are, by definition, it's people. Travel of that nature, and photography of the kind that Oscar brings to Lincoln Heights (π) are two of my deepest joys.
PS: Is anyone interested in what I was writing on that road-trip? DM me, like, or comment and I'll publish!
Where do we stack up? π
Without travel, it makes it really hard to know where you stack up in the scheme of things. You can easily forget how fast the world is moving and how much we've advanced collectively. I would argue that those who never leave the 'West' are uniquely bad at this form of perspective (sorry).
Look at the two charts below from Hans Rosling's epic Factfulness. π

We continue to pull millions out of poverty.

Life expectancy is rising for millions.
For most, it's simply a matter of perspective. Break bread with someone you don't know. Share a table and share your story. You will be rewarded for it with new relationships, but also with an expansion of the mind that changes your life forever.
Take back your attention π€
Most of us have been convinced by someone, somewhere, that the world is burning. That the world is getting worse by all accounts, not better. This is simply not true.
In my experience, those who make a living convincing us that the world is burning are the ones who are obsessed with it being true. You need not give your attention away for free.
CNN's top 7 breaking news headlines all have "dead," "died," "kill" in them. Quite the curation team they've got.

Do we have problems? Of course. And we need to get on them in short order. But pessimists don't change the world. Given a long enough time horizon, optimists build the future.
What's the point? π²
The world is changing fast! How fast you can adapt as the future demands will determine how likely you are to succeed in that new world. The changes that we're seeing for the better are largely on the back of the incredible applied scientists, engineers, creatives, and entrepreneurs in spaces like health tech, biosciences, ed-tech, and beyond. That's what I'm writing about Monday morning!
