Prototypes Are Easy πͺ
(Production is Hard)
Short, practical drops on culture and technology. π
Happy 2022! We've had some new faces join the community since the new year began and that makes me excited. I can only imagine what is in store for us this year.

To the community π
Good morning! I called this letter 'Boomerang' for two reasons. One, because Michael Lewis's book of the same name crystallizes the incredible power of culture x technology. Two, because Boomerang is a metaphor.
It's a metaphor for what I've since called 'sowing seeds in the ether.'
The internet is a funny place π
It's a metaphor for throwing ideas out, and watching them come back (πͺ). You have an idea, maybe a fleeting thought or a moment of inspiration, you put that idea out in to the world, and it takes on a life of its own. You've done something that can't be undone.
The amazing thing about the internet is that when they come back, they're different. They're changed somehow. They've been absorbed by others (often far smarter than you), they've been expanded, they've been corrected, or they've gone viral. (Virality is a strange thing, and something I'll be writing about more soon).
You've sown a seed that will grow forever.
Ideas are easy π‘
But ideas are easy. They are a dime-a-dozen. Turning that idea in to something useful for the world is hard. π
Here's my conversation with @elonmusk. His 3rd time on the podcast. This one was epic.
Elon and the amazing SpaceX and Tesla teams have inspired the world, in a time when it is needed most.
Thank you for giving people hope about the future.

I really enjoyed the podcast above. Lex is a great host and, whatever you may think of Elon, he's incredibly thoughtful. I admire that.
In the podcast he talks about how prototypes are easy. Production is what is hard.
Consider the amount of information in Elon's brain. There is no shortage of ideas. There never will be. Turning those ideas in to reality is the real challenge. He seems to be uniquely good at inspiring manufacturing of stuff as well, but for most of us actually following through is the real challenge.
So how do you make stuff? π
Well, you need the right tools. This can be set and setting, a schedule you can actually follow through on and maintain, the rise no-code tools, being inspired by others doing admirable things in your community, or, I hope, newsletters like this one.
Mind you, I'm still trying to take my own advice. I always will be. We're all a work in progress.
Share with someone in your community who could use a dose of inspiration this morning. I look forward to seeing what you build. π
Gratitude π
I feel lucky to have you on the other end of this newsletter. If you haven't yet, join the community. π
See you on the path.
